GUEST SOAP consists of a stack of white cast-resin bars resembling goat’s-milk soap. Visitors may pick up the individual bars, turn them over, rub them between their hands and even attempt to wash with them. Unlike real soap, they will not lather, dissolve or diminish through use. The work makes permanent the peculiar status of decorative guest soap—an object ostensibly provided for use but frequently treated as too pristine to touch.
