fibre art | 6 x 6"

Rosemary Burd is a mixed media and fibre artist living and working in Vancouver, BC. Self-taught as an embroiderer and a photographer, Rosemary’s stitching practice is equal parts exploration and meditation. What began as a fascination with running stitch and sashiko embroidery developed into a range of stitched work that encompasses both embroidered pieces constructed from repurposed fabrics and found objects, and stitching on her own jerky iPhone photographs.

Since setting up her studio in 2021, Rosemary has exhibited in group shows in Toronto, Ontario, and Vancouver, Duncan, and Madeira Park, British Columbia, and at the Eastside Culture Crawl. Her fibre art piece, ‘where can we find light in this never-ending shade?’, was published in From Confrontation to Catharsis: SDA International Exhibition in Print (2021). Rosemary had her first two-person show of her large embroidered photographs at the Kay Meek Arts Centre, West Vancouver, in the fall of 2023.
