As a North Vancouver-based artist, Emiko has dedicated years to refining her skills as a still life and recently portrait painter, drawing inspiration from her upbringing in Fukui, Japan. Surrounded by the majestic landscapes of mountains and sea, both in her hometown and now in Vancouver, she finds echoes of her childhood memories in every brush stroke.

Growing up, she was immersed in the rich tradition of Japanese crafts, thanks to her mother and grandmother. Their daily contribution to their home instilled in her a deep appreciation for artistry and domesticity, which she now channels into her work. She paints using acrylics and oil scenes that reflect the nostalgic charm of vintage treasures, books, flowers, and fruit all imbued with a sense of longing and familiarity. She also has extended her creative outlet into sculpture work and works with polymer clay to make domestic items.
