Doug Thoms

With this group of paintings, Doug Thoms presents us with an undisciplined jumble of imagery built out from an eccentric selection of his current visual obsessions and a variety of formal and stylistic tropes. Distorted, fragmentary figures and objects intermingle in slippery, painterly spaces, hinting at vague and darkly humorous narratives - at least, he hopes that’s what they're doing.
