Ana Shioshita is an artist working primarily in ceramics. She currently lives in Squamish, but is originally from Boulder Colorado, where she dug up wild clay as a child and developed a life-long love for the medium. She attended school for sculpture, before switching to biology, but ultimately found her way back to ceramics. Ana is interested in how forms move and interact with the world around them, each other, and the viewer. Her work draws influence from a combination of biology and the cartoons and comics she watched and read as a child. She aims to create forms that people identify with, and is endlessly interested in what we see, what we project onto it, and how wildly that varies from person to person.
