Heidi Gerrits, aka fatcatmango, is a textile artist and painter originally raised on a farm in Nova Scotia’s Annapolis Valley and now based in Vancouver, British Columbia. Her work is an exploration of the landscape around her—capturing everything from the magnificent scale of the mountains and trees, and the linear geometry of the city skyline, to the tiny flowers rooted in sidewalk cracks and the pebbles on the beach. While she primarily focuses on weaving and painting, she is drawn to any medium that allows her to play with her favourite elements; colour, shape, and texture. These miniature sculptures are her latest exploration of those themes, bringing a sense of tactile wonder to a small scale.
