For the past decade my work has involved creating empathetic connections in troubling times. This includes my project "Do You Whisper a Tiny I'm Sorry?" a collection of rugs in the shape of dead birds and scaled to hold the human body. I encourage the gallery visitor to interact with these rugs, allowing their body to shape to that of the bird at the moment of its last breath. Each bird has an accompanying photo and text that directs the viewers attention while engaging with the tactile surface. These spaces encourage a consideration of human/avian relations during times of crisis.
