She lives and works in Vancouver, BC, on the unceded and ancestral territory of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), and səlilwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations. Motherhood is a central theme in Tehya's work, exploring its profound influence on personal identity. Collected photographs become a way to mirror shared experience between the artist and the world around her. Each piece is a celebration of the complexities and joys of womanhood, resonating with the collective experience of parenthood and caregiving. Through the integration of textiles and hand embroidery, she adds texture and a tactile quality that emphasizes the nurturing aspects of creativity. Most recently her piece “At what point do I shatter? (2025)” was hung in Kairos: Mothering Time at Duplex Art Society as part of a group show about motherhood with her aptly named Collective, ‘Motherloaders’.\u003c\/p\u003e","brand":"Teyha MacKenzie","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":47348196671637,"sku":null,"price":200.0,"currency_code":"CAD","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0454\/1956\/1109\/files\/IMG_1046.jpg?v=1778599008","url":"https:\/\/thethisgallery.com\/products\/im-allowed-to-be-messy","provider":"THIS GALLERY","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
