She graduated from Emily Carr University in 2013 and is a founding member of the Dusty Babes Collective. From 2015-2021 she lived and worked out of their communal space in the Surrey studio of the late great Don Hutchinson. Now based in Vancouver, she is a maker, instructor, technician, parent and dedicated volunteer with the Potters Guild of BC community kiln. She makes objects that are self-conscious of their own act of making, that wrestle between drawing and sculpture, fiction and non-fiction, imagined and observed narratives. Sculpture, figuration, illustration and pottery swim together freely in her practice as well as a great curiosity for materials. Metallic oxides, sticky porcelain and heat are recruited into telling stories about science, family, animal, vegetable and mineral.\u003c\/p\u003e","brand":"Amelia Butcher","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":47348017496213,"sku":null,"price":148.34,"currency_code":"USD","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0454\/1956\/1109\/files\/IMG_1057.jpg?v=1778594444","url":"https:\/\/thethisgallery.com\/en-us\/products\/vulture-candleholder","provider":"THIS GALLERY","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
